The Renaissance Movement first started in Florence in Italy. Filippo Brunelleschi takes the credit for having ignited the Art Renaissance Movement in Italy though he is not the most famous figure attached to it. He was an architect by profession and was responsible for setting down the scientific laws of perspective based on which the Renaissance Art in Italy flowered later.

Barring Giotto di Bondone, a famous name that features in the Christian art movement in Italy in the 13th century, art in Italy was always of a two-dimensional style.
